A pre-existing brick and tile Craftsman style mantel had long been missing it’s original top. The owners wanted to re-design and build a new top that would be tasteful and consistent aesthetically with the look of the brick and tile as well as the rest of their condo. I developed a series of design drawings exploring different options. The one they selected incorporated a large white oak stained top with crown moulding below as well as a center section that incorporated three corbels and a small indented inner panel. The pieces were built and finished in the shop then installed and assembled on site. The finish is two coats of gel stain topped with a satin polyurethane for a soft and durable finish.
