Post Modern Bookcase

I was brought in on this project by Garrett Mitchell Interiors who had proposed a Post Modern design for a couple who were moving into a new condo on Chicago’s north side. They had created design drawings for a bookcase that would span 13′ wide and be 8.5′ filling the large wall in the living room. I developed a second round of drawings to dial in on the specifics needed for construction and moved forward with the client’s approval. The piece was built out of white oak solid board length and veneers to match the wood and stain on the floors. The bookshelf was made in three sections that were assembled, connected and installed on site to accommodate the fourth floor walk up. A very elegant clean piece, very cool to build.
